The problem of revision in history

What do we do when we find out unpleasant things about psychologists?

Case 1. From Benjafield (1996).

In letters written between John B. Watson and Karl S. Lashley expressed their views on women and race. Today Political Correctness would stifle them. They also signed their letters with "Heil Hitler and Apartheid" (Weidman, 1994; Benjafield, 1996, p. 159).

Gestalt flourished at the Psychological Institute of the University of Berlin from 1920 through to 1933

When it came to the US it had some people following it while others tried vehemently to stop it (Mills, 1987).
