Alien Abduction Latency Syndrome (AALS)
People having been abducted by aliens have a residual condition that affects
several physical, psychological, and social features of their lives.
It is believed to be the result of not only the trauma of having been abducted,
but also the testing and memory blocking that was applied to the people by aliens.
Observational Characteristics: (Operational Definition)
AALS can be observed or measured through the following characteristics.
Physical:
Nervousness, agitated behaviour that is sometimes repressed as calmness.
Psychological:
Feelings of agitation and nervousness, especially with resepect to being tested, measured, or assesed.
Social:
Isolation from others is common when confronted by tests or evaluations.
According to the Positivist criteria of Operationalism or Operational Definitions,
this will pass the test of being an observable and meaningful scientific concept.
It is however it is an utterly meaningless and a made up fiction to make the point
that
reliance upon operational definitions as the criteria of scientific meaning is meaningless.
