Lab 2 continued

Naturalistic Observation: Part II

Taking the same topic as you had in part one but refining it to make it more precise. (You  can select another topic here if you were not happy with your first topic) but you should try to return to the same location as your first observation.

This time, however  you will need to provide an operational definition for your observations in this section.

What that means is you will need to identify precisely what you are observing and how you are observing it, usually with some kind of counting or clearly defined criteria for its presence or absence. (e.g., aggression can be operationalised as punches per minute).

Following your second observation period answer the following questions
(added to those from part -1 and drop in the box).

What was the topic of your observations? Why did you select this topic?

How did you operationalize your observed behaviour?

What might your hypothesis be about the behaviour you observed if you had to do this study again?

What conclusions can be drawn from your observations?

What were the problems or difficulties you faced?

How could you design a study that would work better?

Last step here is to write a brief Lab Report of your experiences in this activity and bring it to class to hand in for grading at the start of next class.  Remember to include a reference in your report.
