Personality Styles


For this activity you need to copmplete two of the three personality inventories below

Option # 1 - The BIG 5 personality inventory

Go to this website and complete the inventory and review the materials on the Big-5

What are the big five dimensions?

In what ways is it accurate or inaccurate in assessing who you think you are?

What can you learn about yourself based upon the personality profile you have been given?

Later in the course we will discuss, therapies and counselling, keeping that in mind,
 how might you counsel yourself to adjust your perspectives  to make the most of your life?

 


Option # 2 - Myers-Briggs Type Indicators

Go to this website http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm  and review the material on the
Myers-Briggs personality test that is based upon Carl Jung's theory of self and personality.

Take the test and provide a critical review your scores and indicate whether or not
you think this provides an accurate reflection of your personality.

What are the characteristic styles that one could have here?

In what ways is it accurate or inaccurate in assessing who you think you are?

What can you learn about yourself based upon the personality profile you have been given?

Later in the course we will discuss, therapies and counselling, keeping that in mind,
 how might you counsel yourself to adjust your perspectives  to make the most of your life?


Option # 3- The Time Paradox

In his website on the timeparadox, Professor Philip Zimbardo discusses
the past, present & future time perspectives along with possible consequences
of being locked into or biased by each of these views.

He continues to discuss  how the present hedonist and future positive orientations
of such children can be linked to other behaviours and characteristics in later childhood through adulthood.

For this part of this activity go to the website http://www.thetimeparadox.com and
review the brief video clips
on the time biases that affect our personalities and browse
through the text below them.  Take note of the characteristics of the personality styles
associated with being past, present and future oriented along with temperament and social relations .

Next  take the time-test for yourself and after you have completed the test,
copy and paste your results into a word document and answer the following questions:

Identify three biases and the consequences of those biases that Zimbardo discusses.

What can you learn about yourself and the time biases that you may be prone to follow?

 how might you counsel yourself to adjust your time perspectives  to make the most of your life?
