Here I take from E.Jones (1953) in presenting Freud as a conquistador, someone with great ambition. All the while I also consider Jones' portrayal of the roles of his mother and father as representing pleasure and reality, work and play, science and literature (mythology and phantasy). This dialectic is also brought togeher through a discussion of the natural and human science perspectives that parallele his two passions and his parental influences.
